Strong and tall I stand,
just on the rivers edge.
With knotty fingers on my hands,
I wave across the ledge.
My limbs are slowly shrinking,
they say that comes with age.
But my roots are eagerly drinking,
as the river waters rage.
Unselfishly I've given,
safe harbour unto all.
My determined spirit's driven,
by God Almighty's call.
If it's peace you need my friend,
or protection from the sun.
My cool, refreshing shade I'll lend,
just sit and have some fun.
Though,many years I have endured,
all mother nature's squalls.
Your help I need, to keep secured,
from man's almighty saw!
